Using Biodynamic Compost Preparations
The Cow Pat Pit (CPP) is a great option for gardeners and farmers who want to kick start their bio-dynamic soil improvement programme. A CPP decomposes faster and the compost can be ready in as little as six months.
We will start by sorting through the cow dung to remove seeds and make it friable. After a shared lunch we will add basalt dust and egg shells and fill our new pit. Then we add the biodynamic compost preps and cover.
We also intend to stir some CPP which you can take home and spread on your garden so please bring a glass container.
If there is time, we will also lay down some 500 (horn manure) and hopefully 504 (nettle preparation).
Finally, we have an abundance of bamboo on the property so if you would like some for stakes or whatever we are happy for you to harvest it.
You will need gloves, boots, good loppers or saw to cut it and something sharp to trim off the side branches.
